My initial reaction is that the red and blue one will "age" better.
I'm thinking in 5 years the "grey" one will look more muddled than one with higher contrast.
One of the most stunning tattoos I ever saw was a samurai done on the back of someone's calf... it was bordered out with full background and the entire thing was done in bold black strokes and intricate detail. Like a perfectly done wood cut.
I was gonna say gray till baimun brought up the aging. In a couple years the blue one will look like the gray one.
I think Baimun's right.. I must admit I didn't think about the aging factor...
but right now on my arm the tattoo that I've got is blue. The color did hold up pretty well, but of course it's not as blue as it once was... but I must admit I didn't really care for it since I knew I'd get a cover up on it... and it's been there for the last 10-11 years... (man I'm old.. lol)
I say skip those and go with green and purple. thats the color of my dragon and it looks great!

the biggest thing that messes up color is sun exposure. sunburn your ink and you'll end up with shitty colour later on. if you noticed on mine I never let them get even sun tanned, and my colors are great after many years

So, as some of you know, my apointement for my cover-up tattoo is taken, but my artist isn't available 'till december (grrr... can't wait for it damnit... lol)
To keep the story short I'm getting a 1/2 sleeve done as a cover-up and I'll have a chinese dragon in there somewhere.
Now the big question is do I make the dragon Blue:
or grey:
I'm not asking about the specific design of the dragon since he won't exactly look like that, but I'm just wondering about the color... Right now I'm leaning toward the grey, but I'd change the blue part of his underbelly for red...
A blue dragon would also be nice, but since they're will be water around him I don't want my arm to look like something only blue...
So what do you think?
